Skin packaging also known as skin boarding is a common packaging process. During the skin packaging sealing process, packaged items are laid on top of a board and covered with a plastic film. The film is heated and air is vacuumed out leaving a tight seal between the film and its backing. The tight seal secures the packaged items and prevents it from being damaged during shipping. After the skin process, the backing can be cut to a specific shape. Often with skin packaging, a hole is usually added to the backing so it can hang from a hook.
