Plastic Bag & Film Recycling Video

Plastic Bag & Film Recycling Video

The video below explains how to recycle plastic bags and films.
Plastic film is thin polyethylene plastic used for shrink / stretch wrap packaging. It has commercial uses as well as retail-use bags. There are plenty of benefits to recycling it.
Polyethylene (PE) film may carry a #2 HDPE or #4 LDPE mark. If a plastic film stretches when you pull it with your fingers, it’s likely you can recycle it. Additionally, most clean and dry polyethylene (PE), labeled as #2 or #4, plastic film and bags are recyclable at participating retail and local drop-off locations.
Clean and dry plastic films and bags are 100% recyclable. Plastic film, wraps and bags can be taken to a participating retail locations or local drop off sites that will recycle the films.
For larger volume waste, the plastic could be dropped off at a recycling management company.
As a result, recycling plastic films saves them from entering land fills where it can take 1,000 years to decompose.
Plastic bags and film packaging are important, durable and lightweight protection for both food and merchandise in transit. However, these materials SHOULD NOT be recycled in most curbside carts or single stream programs. Thankfully, many grocers and retailers and some communities provide specific collection bins for bags and film to be recycled separately from other recyclables.
Recycled plastic is used to produce new products like decking, crates, containers or pipes.
